THE REFUGE. This is the word that appears when you put together every first letter that appears in each story in this portfolio, did you notice this? Because this is what is all about. The REFUGE.

I was almost 20 years old when the Syrian revolution started. Since then, the tragedy of the Syrian refugees has been grabbing my attention and taking my breath away. All the horrible photos and videos of what is happening in Syria and of the people who are trying to flee break my heart.

I believe in the importance of making positive contributions to the life of these vulnerable refugees. For this, I decided to utilize my academic and professional experience and speak up for them.

My name is Lina Elshrief. I am an Egyptian journalist, translator, and Fulbright scholar. I graduated from the Faculty of Mass Communication, majoring in Journalism, at Cairo University in 2011. After 10 years of my graduation, I am now providing this professional portfolio to fulfill a graduation requirement for The Master of Arts in Multi-Media Journalism at Arkansas Tech University. My short-term dream is to make all the world read, hear, watch all the stories in this project. My long-term dream is to always be a voice for the voiceless. Freedom is a right for everyone.

This portfolio is for every Syrian man, woman, and kid. This portfolio is for all the voiceless people in the world.
